Teachings From the Masters
Fear, Doubt, and Worry
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
When you shift your identity, your mind reads unfamiliar as danger. So fear, doubt, and worry show up. Good. That means you’re stretching. The trap is trying to “fix” the feeling by backpedaling, over-preparing, or distracting yourself. Don’t make moves in fear. Calm your body. Observe the feeling until it passes. Then ask one question: what feels like peace right now? If there’s no inspired action, wait. The moment you stop feeding the old identity, the right next step appears. Follow the peace and you become unstoppable.

Welcome to Teachings from the Masters with Daryl Sean Price. Hi, welcome. So glad you're here. So today I want to talk to you about things you will experience and feel as you're shifting your identity. And this is a big one because this is where a lot of people, as they start to shift their identity, start to manifest miracles, start to really live in alignment, end up backpedaling. Because here's the reality: if you're doing the inner work and shifting your identity, you are changing the beliefs that have created what that identity is. And your mind sees unfamiliarity, sees discomfort as danger. This is why you've probably experienced many times in your life that you get excited for something new, you go forward a little bit, and then it feels uncomfortable, so you take a step back. Or you know if you just started doing meditation or exercise or eating better, you'd feel better, but you really don't do it. Or, man, if I just jump back in and start to learn this new thing, then I know I could do better at this and this, and there's always a distraction, and it always feels like you're procrastinating. It isn't because you're lazy, it isn't because you're not good enough, it's because your mind is defending your current identity. So as you're starting to step into a new identity, it sees that unfamiliarity as danger. It doesn't know what's going to happen. And so you're going to experience several things. You will experience fear because your mind says, oh no, your identity is being threatened. That is danger. You'll experience doubt because your mind doesn't know what's going to happen with new things that you're about to do because it's never had that prediction play out before. So it's never had a belief around whatever that thing is. So there's a doubt that it will work the way you want because your mind doesn't know how to put A, B, and C together. You're going to experience worry because there are things that you have done that have had negative effects before. And your mind is going to go through all the different possible things that could happen, negative or positive, which will create worry. But here's the thing to remember: if you experience fear, doubt, or worry, good, it means you're actually stretching yourself. Those will come up. Now, here's what most people do, and we're going to talk about how to overcome fear, doubt, and worry in just a minute. But I see this over and over again. People experience fear, doubt, or worry. It's not comfortable. It's not nice. It doesn't feel good. I don't want to feel that. So the default to the mind to go immediately to how do I fix it as easily as possible. Okay, well, I'm scared to take this step, so I'm not going to take it. Well, I have a doubt that I can actually do this. Well, let me go back and learn more first. I have a worry that it's not going to work out. Okay, well, I better go take some more courses. I better go work with somebody that knows how to do it. So you find yourself over and over and over again, taking a step back to convince your mind that you're more prepared before you do it. But here's the beauty of it: you're not scared of the new you. You're not scared of the failure. You're not worried about what's going to happen or not. It's the feeling of doubt, fear, and worry that you don't want. That's what keeps you procrastinating. That's what keeps you going backwards. That's what keeps you stepping back into the familiar instead of taking a step out of your comfort zone to grow. And that's why, usually, when people have a drastic change in life, it is a drastic change from somebody they used to be to some huge new person after some drastic thing. Oh, I made this huge decision finally to get married, to change jobs, to move. These things that your mind thinks are such big decisions only feel big because they are a threat to your current identity. This is why it's so important to have your attention inside, not outside, internal, not external. Because the more that you put it, pay attention to the external, the more that you attach to the external, the more fodder you're giving your mind to defend the current identity. When the reality is you're not looking for anything specific. You might think you are, yes, there are specific desires of, oh, I want financial freedom, I want health, I want better relationships, etc. But those desires are just the breadcrumbs of what it looks like to your mind for you to step into alignment. And the fear of not having that is your mind saying, no, let's just go back to what's comfortable. Let's just, this is good enough. Think about this for your life. How often have you had something, man, I really want to do whatever it is, I really want to experience financial freedom, I really want to be healthier, I really want to travel, I really want to find a significant other in a great relationship. And you kind of step towards that, and then you go, well, you know, maybe I'll never have financial freedom the way I imagined it, but maybe I can just do this and it's good enough. And maybe just accepting this is good enough, and maybe just being where I am is good enough. And it feels like a relief. Well, guess what? The feelings are not the indicator that what you're doing isn't for you. The feelings are just feedback. So let's walk through a situation. Let's say you are trying to shift your identity so you're no longer financially struggling, but you are financially free. And as you take some of those steps, you start to get worried. Okay, well, I'm gonna go out and start a business. What if it doesn't work? And what if I don't know enough? And what if I fail completely? What if I spend all this money and I waste it and it's all gone and nothing happens? You know what? Let me go back, let me just go work an extra job and have a little bit of extra money. This was probably sounding familiar to quite a few of you. It's not the external result that matters, it's the feeling. So, what do you do when fear, doubt, worry arise? Acknowledge it and appreciate it. If you're feeling fear, if you're feeling doubt, if you're feeling worry, you're on a path or having an experience that will help you grow and stretch. That's it. Anytime you step out of your current identity and start shifting to a new one, there will be some fear, doubt, and worry. You never make decisions in fear, doubt, and worry. Remember, we've talked about this in previous podcast episodes. There's only one thing you do: follow the peace. So if you're feeling fear, responding to the fear is not peace, it's responding to the fear. That's following the fear. So, what do you do when you're feeling fear? Let's watch it. Oh no, what if I take this huge leap? What if I spend all this money on this opportunity that might change my life, but it doesn't? And I've just wasted all the money. Okay, so you're feeling that fear. Stop. Calm your body. Deep breath. In through the nose, out through the mouth. Exhale longer than you inhale to send signals to your body that you are safe. Nothing is endangering you right now. Okay? Now, once your body's calm, just give your mind the job to pay attention to how the fear feels. Okay, I've noticed it. There's a tightness in my chest. I noticed that I'm breathing heavy. I noticed that there's a soreness in my muscles, whatever it is. Watch that feeling and let it play out. This is your mind going through the fear of, oh no, old identity is going away. Let it play out. Because on the other side, there's more acceptance of stepping into the new. And you've now turned it internal. It's not about what happens on the external. That's not what the cause of the fear is. It's just your mind going, whoa, unfamiliar. Let me put it some external thoughts there to back up. I don't like unfamiliar. I want something easy that's familiar. Okay. So now you notice it. Now you've watched it. Now it's past. Okay, once that feeling's gone, ask yourself what feels like peace right now? And listen and respond. And if it's nothing, wait. Wait until there is inspired action. As you're shifting your identity, this isn't about, and I've seen people do this too, this isn't about, okay, I'm shifting my identity. I'm now financially free. I feel it. I feel all the blessings. And oh my gosh, what do I got to do outside to go make it happen? Oh, I better hurry up. I need to go get more money. Maybe I just get all the loans and all the grants and everything I can get. I gotta go get my hands on it. I gotta hustle, hustle, hustle. So I can live what I just imagined. No. Your internal identity will create the experiences that best match you. This is why it's important for you to follow the piece and only take inspired action. You know, I was working with a business partner of mine just the other day, and she was pointing out to me that right now, mentally and in the actual world and in responding to external, she was getting really frustrated because she doesn't have the things she wants. And where's the building? And where's the where's the business that she wanted to have? And how come it's not up yet? When she quieted herself, when she listened, when she went inside, she said, you know what? There is no inspired action right now. It doesn't feel like peace to do anything. Oh, well, then that means wait. Don't do. And of course, your mind goes wild. Well, if you don't do, you're not gonna succeed, and people are counting on you, and the money and the business, and it needs to succeed, or else that's okay. That's the mind trying to defend the old identity. Perfect, you're on the right path. Sitting with that may be exactly what she needed, in fact, is exactly what she has needed right now. To sit with that and realize if there's no inspired action, it's time to wait. Wait for the mud to settle before I take my next step. And when the next step is there, it will appear, it will feel like peace, I will take it and it will work perfectly. And sure enough, within a day of accepting that, she had someone reach out to her and said, Hey, this feels like synchronicity. I would like to talk to you about your business. Maybe we can work together, maybe I can help make it happen. I have some ideas for you. The right action, the right inspired action appeared the moment she accepted, I am following the peace only, not the expectations, not the fears, not the worry, not the doubt. So let's come back. When you are shifting your internal identity, it means you're deciding you want newer, better experiences. You're deciding you want to live in alignment. Spirit, heart, mind, and body in sync. When you start to live that way, yes, your identity shifts, but then your mind, as your identity shifts, will start to trigger thoughts and experiences that bring up fear, doubt, worry. Because it's defending the old identity. Because it has learned for so many years to process this is the way the world is, this is who we are, these are the beliefs we have. And now you're saying it's not. Oh my gosh, that's scary. So fear, doubt, and worry are just signs, hey, you're on the right path, you're stretching yourself. Never make a move in fear, doubt, or worry. And also stop demonizing and fighting those experiences. So you feel fear, doubt, and worry. And what a lot of people do is they will run out and go, I need to distract myself, I don't want to feel this anymore. Okay, well, I need to go and do something about it. I gotta go, let me go and work another second job and save more money just in case this doesn't work. When you start to respond to the fear, doubt, and worry, you're feeding the old identity instead of allowing it to pass, so you can now have the new experiences. You are the master, you are the great creator, you are the spirit of creation that exists in all things. Your spirit is that energy of creation. That spirit of creation that exists in all things, that energy of creation that is everything is your spirit. So, because of that, you now get to create. But you don't create by staying where you are and just pushing and shoving and hustling in the current world. You create by deciding who you are internally, what you want to experience that feels good, and then allowing the outside world to match. So take the step. When fear comes, acknowledge it and be grateful for it. I'm on the right path. My mind's trying to defend an old identity. Okay, that's great. I don't have to pay attention to any of the thoughts that what my mind says might happen. I can acknowledge the fear is there, it's trying to defend my old identity, which means I'm shifting. And this is the biggest leap of faith you'll probably ever take in life. To be able to face the fear that your mind will give you when you are shifting, just accept it's part of the process. But once you can do that, you become unstoppable. And I promise you, each time you do that, it gets easier and easier and easier. Pretty soon, you have reprogrammed your mind to stop thinking fear is this big dangerous thing, and just, oh, okay, this is what it feels like when we shift. Okay, that's fine. And thank goodness you've got that heart that feels. Because here's what's really happening: your mind isn't giving you the fear. Your mind keeps giving you thoughts and experiences that are the old you when you're trying to shift to the new you because it goes to the familiar first. It's the easiest. It takes the less, the least amount of energy to create are those old experiences that have become familiar. Like riding a bike. The first time you rode it, it was really hard, it was really difficult, there was a lot of focus. But after a while, it was muscle memory. You got on and it just happened naturally. This is what your mind is doing with creating experiences for you. Here's all the beliefs you have, here's all the things you've been trained in, here's all the things you practice for so many years. So I'm gonna give you what's easiest. This is easiest, this is easiest. But if you're truly shifting, your heart goes, no, be scared of that, be wary of that, be doubtful of that. Those thoughts are the old you. The feedback is your heart telling you not in alignment. Oh no, what if I can't pay my bills? Not in alignment, don't think that. It's okay. You don't have to know how the bills are being paid, you don't have to know how it's gonna line up. But you thinking you are scared, you feeling the fear, that's the issue. That's where most people go back and say, okay, I don't want to feel this anymore. Easiest way to get rid of that, go to the familiar. Okay, well, I guess I'm never gonna be a millionaire and financially free, so I'm just gonna be good enough at this. All right, you're back to your old identity. And sure, you can probably live as your old identity and be okay until that big moment happens. That big moment that happens in everyone's life when the universe says, hey, you're not growing anymore, so we're going to have something drastic happen that forces you to grow now. And it's because you kept giving into the fear, the doubt, and the worry. Your heart is telling you this old way of thinking, the old you that your mind keeps defending, the experiences that pop up because they're familiar to the old you, the thoughts you keep having because that's what the old you would do, are not in alignment. Then when you take that moment and say, okay, I'm gonna allow those feelings to process because that's my heart telling me it's not in alignment, my mind will start to accept that this is not us anymore. Now I'm gonna go and imagine that new me. Imagine the financial freedom, imagine the ability to do whatever I want, whenever I want, imagine the beautiful relationships, the healthy body. Imagine having every experience I've ever dreamed come true. How does that feel? Oh, it feels good, it feels like peace. Hey, that's in alignment. Remember, none of this is about what's actually happening around you. So when you get into that place that you're in alignment, when you've decided this is who I am, when you're deciding to shift your identity, and remember, when you do the inner work, you never have to do the outer work. But once you've done that and you feel that, make that your reality. Ignore all the things happening out here that are just the old self coming back because it's familiar. Oh, that fear is there? Okay, I feel feared. That's telling me it's not in alignment, that's old me, doesn't get any attention. We're done. And seriously, start ignoring the 3D reality that keeps pulling you back to the old you. Because the reason it's still there, even though you've shifted internally, is because it's familiar to your mind. So you create a new familiar. Every single time I feel fear, doubt, and worry, and it crops up quite a bit as I shift. And I do a lot of shifting. I focus on my inner self so much. This is the work I do. And every single time there is fear, doubt, and worry. So when I'm in a moment of fear, I usually go up to my meditation chair, I sit down, I close my eyes, I practice non-reaction and observe the fear till it passes. Then I get back into the imagination of the experiences that I want, those desires that I'm currently focused on and how they feel. As I get into those desires, the fear is gone. And I make that my new reality. Most of the time when I do that, most of the time when I do that, when I decide to not give energy to the fear, the doubt, or the worry, just acknowledge it, appreciate it's there, realize that it's feedback from my heart, and get back into alignment with the way I want to feel, I come out of that meditation and something's happened. Somebody reached out to me. They gave me a new path. Someone connected with me online. I found a resource that popped up. I got to see something that popped up on a feed that was the exact message I needed to hear. Most of the time when I do that, I get an immediate omen that says, Yep, you're on the right path. And you've got this. And that's how it works for you too. If you feel fear, doubt, or worry, it means you're stretching and growing. The only reason fear, doubt, and worry are there is because your heart is giving you feedback that the current way your mind is thinking, trying to defend your old identity, is not in alignment. So stop reacting to and responding to the fear, doubt, and worry. Only act when you feel inspired and when you are following the peace. Because there's nothing greater than the power of you. And when you live in alignment, you will naturally create your happiest life and manifest miracles. And all you have to do is choose to follow the peace. So stop demonizing fear, doubt, and worry. If they're there, you're growing. Acknowledge it, be aware of it, appreciate it, but do not feed it. Observe it and follow the peace. And watch how miraculous your life becomes.
